Extending the legacy of our founder.
Charles Hawkins
Our company was founded by a man of rare integrity. Charles Hawkins, known by others as Charlie, opened shop in 1962 after being let go from his job at another real estate company. Ignoring their assessment that he didn’t have what it takes to make it in the real estate business, Charlie boldly formed his own company, calling it Chas. Hawkins Company, Inc. as opposed to Charles Hawkins Company, Inc. to reduce the length of the name and therefore the cost of producing his first company sign. At the outset and throughout his long tenure as the firm’s leader, Charlie balanced his tenacity with unwavering ethics and a prudent commitment to stability, not only for himself and his family but also for his team and the company overall.
These values of integrity, stability and tenacity continue to define the company today, and Charlie’s legacy remains of primary importance to our ethos. His name—as our name—reminds us of our roots and also reminds us that we are a relationship-driven firm. We are a team of people, responding expertly to the needs and goals of our clients. As such, we don’t think with our wallets. We think and act according to the example set by our namesake and founder, Charles Hawkins.
